This beautifully illustrated book has a simple text which highlights how the small things we do for and with others are so often an expression of love.  It portrays a range of family 'types', including a couple of examples of mixed race families, so it gets a thumbs up from me!

This well known book is about the true story of two male penguins at New York Zoo who together adopted an egg and brought up a little penguin together.

It is impossible not to give your heart to these two little guys and I so feel for them at the beginning of the story when their stone does not hatch like the other penguins eggs do.  A really joyful story, which I know you will love!

Out of all these books, this is the one which has really captured my daughters interest and has become a firm favourite.

It is a gentle story of the love between a Grandparent and Grandchild and how food can be used as an expression of love.  Highlights for us are the way this book shows an extended family getting together and the amazing food this family eats for Sunday dinner (the peach cobbler and raspberry sauce sounds amazing!)

This is a simple story of all the things this child's Mommy and Mama does with them.  I really like that the child is not specifically either gender.  I am really happy to have this one to add to my collection so my daughter can learn about a different family set up to our own.

I can't read this book without crying!  It is the poetic story of a little girl and her Grandad and how, once he is gone, she is able to keep him alive through her memories and the illustrations are just beautiful!

During the pandemic I lost two Grandparents, whom I was extremely close to, and I was unable to be with them.  This book is a lovely prompt to remember the happy times.
